Introducing
strata
The Strata Collection celebrates the natural beauty and texture of clay through functional art. Each lamp and vessel is handcrafted from unique clay bodies, featuring surfaces that reveal subtle striations and layered earth tones reminiscent of the earth's own layers. Inspired by Nerikomi and modern geometry, the forms are both sculptural and practical — designed to bring warmth, texture, and a distinctive character to any interior.

COLLECTION

The STRATA Sphere is here.
A series of hand-built vases and bowls that celebrate the raw beauty of clay. Each piece reveals the natural tones and textures of its clay body, accented with bold, expressive glazes that bring modern color to timeless form. This new commission is now for sale and on view at Terracotta Home and Garden in Cambria.
PORTFOLIO
Take a peek into my world of clay — from the Strata Collection’s sculptural lamps inspired by earth layers and mid-century lines, to Unearthed Vessels that celebrate bold color and natural clay textures. My Exploration work is where I get my hands dirty — testing new forms, glaze reactions, and ideas that sometimes lead to collections... and sometimes just happy accidents.
STRATA
Hand-built lamps inspired by the earth’s layers and mid-century geometry. Each piece celebrates natural clay striations through a nerikomi-inspired process, where pattern and structure emerge together. Functional sculpture that brings a grounded sense of light to modern interiors.
UNEARTHED
A collection of simple, organic forms that honor the natural beauty of clay. Bold glazes meet raw, earthen textures in a series of vases and bowls that feel both ancient and modern — everyday objects elevated by touch and color.
EXPLORATION
Where ideas take shape — sometimes perfectly, sometimes unexpectedly. This series captures ongoing experiments in form, glaze, and technique. It’s the creative playground where new collections begin and the process itself becomes the art.

SEW Ceramics
WHERE CLAY MEETS CURIOSITY
I’m Scott Edward Williams, and despite the name, there’s not a stitch in sight. SEW Ceramics stands for my initials — and a lifelong need to make things. After two decades designing for film, TV, and brands in Hollywood, I traded pixels for clay slabs and never looked back. Inspired by my endlessly inventive grandmother and the coastline of Cambria, California, I create one-of-a-kind pieces that balance design sense with a good dose of dirt under the fingernails.
Currently, I’m focusing on commissions and collaborations — projects that treat clay the way a digital design agency treats ideas: through concept, iteration, and partnership. I approach each commission like a creative collaboration. We brainstorm, sketch, and refine until the idea takes shape — transforming a “what if” into something tangible.
I’m especially interested in working with interior designers who want to develop something extraordinary for a special client, home décor shops seeking exclusive collections, and galleries looking to feature functional artwork with a story.
If that sounds like you, let’s collaborate and see how far clay — and imagination — can go.
